Crawley apartment complex gets waterproofing works

Conspar waterproofing works at a multi-storey block of residential apartments in Crawley have come to completion.

Conspar's waterproofing system was installed for common access areas (balconies and stairwells) of the complex which overlooks Swan River.

The system is designed to help protect surfaces from concrete cancer developing.

Concrete cancer occurs when water penetrates the surface of the concrete causing the interior steel reinforcement to rust and damage the surrounding concrete. When this surrounding concrete starts to crack it can over time, completely break away from the steel becoming a major safety hazard, including comprising the building's structural integrity.

The protective floor coatings used as part of the waterproofing installation process can also assist in preventing slips and falls in these areas where surfaces have become worn from high-level traffic and weathering.
