Structural masonry, footing and stormwater remediation in a heritage religious setting

The Carmelite Monastery in Dalkeith required careful heritage remediation works involving structural masonry walls, existing footings, foundation stabilisation, stormwater drainage improvements, grout injection, tuck-pointing and repointing.

The problem

Heritage masonry buildings are highly sensitive to movement and moisture.

At the Carmelite Monastery, the works involved structural repairs to masonry walls and footings, stabilisation of existing foundations, and upgrades to stormwater discharge that was impacting the building’s foundations.
